Wedding News & Our Updates

Inspired By Sarah Beeny’s Rise Hall Completetion

Sarah Beeny and her husband Graham Swift bought the derelict 33-bedroom Rise Hall for £441,101 in 2000. Her TV program Beeny’s Restoration Nightmare aired on Channel 4 in 2010 and documented the highs and lows of not only restoring Rise Hall but also creating a family home and a wedding venue. The couple and their family encountered endless difficulties during this monumental project and we at Wedding Décor Direct have been routing for them the whole time. Finally, the wedding venue is officially licensed and legal. Rise Hall is completed and we are delighted for them!

Now that the controversy of planning permission and legal battles is behind them, the joy of hosting unforgettable wedding can begin. Rise Hall is a fine Regency mansion standing in a glorious “Capability’ Brown park. Inside there are beautifully appointed rooms which are licensed to hold civil ceremonies and partnerships. The house is available on an exclusive self-catering basis only. This allows couples to really take control of their own day from the food and drinks to the décor and ambience. Those are our kind of weddings!

There are 2 main rooms available for weddings at Rise Hall. The Entrance Hall features beautifully high ceilings and marbled columns. This room is perfect for drinks receptions, dinners and conferences. The Entrance Hall also offers you and your guests direct access to the portico terrace outside Rise Hall, the ideal setting for any grand drinks reception. Then there is the Belvedere Hall. Rise Hall is fortunate to have a magnificent cantilevered stone staircase in this space. The ceiling rises the whole height of the house and is crowned by a central belvedere. This room is perfect for drinks receptions and of course making a movie style entrance!

When browsing through the photos of these 2 rooms we were absolutely delighted to spot these majestic Georgian brass chandeliers by Dernier & Hamlyn hanging in both the Entrance Hall and Belvedere Hall. And we at Wedding Décor Direct thought to ourselves – There is only one centrepiece in the world that could compete with chandeliers as grand and impressive as those. Our stunning 100cm 5 Arm Gold Brass Wedding Candelabras could not be more perfect! We can hire up to 12 of these beautiful centrepieces / decorations to Rise Hall for a mere £30 each.  So much grandeur for such a small price – we really can’t wait for our first appointment there.

But there is one more space, outside of Rise Hall that we also found ourselves inspired by – The Orangery. Five French Doors that offer views over the picturesque park and provide access on to a stone terrace nestled under a lime grove. Absolutely amazing! This space is a more contemporary one and really does allow total freedom when choosing a colour scheme and wedding style. Personally, we would take inspiration from those beautifully manicured grounds that it overlooks and go for a delicate, feminine theme in whites and ivories. Our Vintage Ivory Cream Birdcage Centrepieces with Featured Song Bird would be our centrepieces of choice here. We can also picture our Ivory Laser Cut Butterfly Bluebell Place Name Cards perching daintily on each wine glass. And our Realistic Large Artificial Silk Rose Petals scattered here and there.
